The Guilt of Honesty
Looking over a cliff
and if I don't take
the first step
I will fall
or be pushed by
circumstance
into the jagged rocks
below.
But if I jump
calculate my
velocity,
I will hit
the cool water
below,
where I can swim
uninhibited,
free.
Maybe even bask on a
rock
cleansing in sun and
water,
before I climb
back up the cliff
face
inch by inch.
And onto the path
that Leads
Home.
I think this poem could speak for many people and the choice of whether to take the plunge or wait to be pushed into it :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Trisha! It could be anyone's poem about any situation.
DeleteAnother great one.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ann!
DeleteNicely done, my friend.
ReplyDeleteNever wait to be pushed. Soar!
ReplyDeleteI agree, Kathy!
DeleteI know my fears usually keep me from jumping!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I just wanted to let you know that I nominated you two for a blog award over at my blog today. http://katejarvikbirch.blogspot.com/2013/04/the-liebster-award.html
Thank you so much, Kate!
DeleteThanks for stopping by the Show Off Blog Party! My co-host Jules from A Dose of Jules is doing the same challenge :). I admire all of you to take it on! I am sometimes stuck just trying to come up with a post to write about. Thanks a bunch for sharing this. It's beautiful!! I hope to see you again next week :)

DeleteIt's been a lot of fun and I do hope to see you again next week ;)
DeleteInstead of defying gravity in the WICKED way, you're taking it into account. Nice!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kristin ;)
DeleteOr you could just walk away from the cliff. Another option. Another poem? I am being devil's advocate, perhaps.
ReplyDeleteOh great idea, Nessa. I love that you always look at things another way. So inspiring!
Deleteyea! I'm still trying to post today's poem.....glad we don't have a to z today, but my creative juices are starting to dry up! :(
ReplyDeleteGreat honesty poem.
It has been amazing so far but I agree. I am going to be ready for a break after this month is over ;)
DeleteHello, I am doing NaPoWriMo and A to Z too. Good luck with both! Regina's poem truly is honest. I can relate.
ReplyDeleteBetter to leap into something new than to be pushed before you are ready. That said, I often wait to long to be ready.
ReplyDeleteThanks for checking out my AtoZ.

LOVE! This poem is so perfect for me, especially for the fact it talks about water. I was afraid of water, but became more afraid when people tried to teach me. When I finally taught myself, I slowly brought myself to the point where I now love water, and can swim easily. :)
