Motivation Found

"The more you let yourself be distracted from where you are going, the more you are the person that you are. It’s not so much like getting lost as it is like getting found."- William Stafford

My room with a view for a week

It's amazing what a little relaxation can do. After a week long staycation with my family at a cabin on Lake Superior, I am feeling inspired. Days on the beach soaking in the sand and sun reading books, poems, short stories and creating some of my own helped me get motivated again.

I entered a couple poetry contests and even sent out a picture book manuscript that's been sitting around for some time. I can do this and so can you. Here's to happy writing, revising, and submitting.

  1. What a gorgeous place for a staycation! I need a little motivation amplification. Hopefully the family vacation at the end of the week will get me there :)
Good luck with your projects and your submissions!

  2. My vacation a few weeks ago had the opposite impact on my writing. Coming home to 2 weeks worth of dirty laundry (& a broken washer) & much around-the-house stuff to catch up on left me almost "wordless." I wrote a word here & a paragraph there. But last night, I got serious. I'm back. I'm motivated. I think your post (& the new washer which arrives today) will help keep me there. Thanks.

  3. I'm on a staycation this week and intend to gets lots of writing, both fiction and non-fiction, done. Also while basking in the sun.

BTW--I used to live in Michigan and my family vacationed at one or the other of the Great Lakes most summers as I was growing up.
