Fool's Day


April first seated in an

audience of fools,

he interrupts to introduce

her.

And I watch student

surpass mentor,

the way child

often exceeds parent.

At sixteen, Muse

provides no light

in my dark.

But still does for him.

She is promise,

in skin tight jeans

and worn

Chuck Taylor's.

Eloquent, slim,

beautiful with Daddy issues.

Enough accomplishments

for old bloods to drink

hers.

Fountain of Youth

reflecting her own mother's

years of single

mother-dom,
