Congrats!

I love this time of year. It's that time when the Newbery Award, Caldecott Medal , Printz and Coretta Scott King awards are given out. It's time to celebrate as a community of writers who have all struggled, fallen down and gotten back up. 

In probably my favorite quotes from a Newbery winner, Katherine Applegate, said, "I’ve got to believe I’m the first person to win the Newbery who has written a Harlequin romance!"

What I love about this openness is that we've all written that novel, picture book or poem that maybe got published or maybe never got published. You know the one. The one that should never have seen the light of day. But it's a process. It's the human creative process.

So cheers to you! Here's to never giving up, of being a human who is open and willing to share with the world the talent you possess.
