Convent
Day #2 : Blessing of the
Blizzard
Perched Jesus
stares
Over distant
roads
Hushed
City buzz
Paused in storm
Beneath great
pine drapes
I take blizzard
wind’s advice
Stay still
Long enough
For eyelashes to
fill
With snowflakes
And cheeks to
burn
Follow the
Juncos
Through
knee-deep snow
Past an effigy
Of Francis
praying
To a silent
river of white
Where birds
gather
Frozen berry
feast
Winter’s bounty
Listen
With only
nature’s whisper
In your ear
And find peace.
