A-Z Challenge

For the A-Z challenge, we decided to post a new and original poem every day (yipes!)  Today, inspired by the fabulous suffragettes, Juliet tackles the letter "S."

Suffrage

Marching in straight white lines,
Ankles thick with dust.
The ladies covered,
Four hundred miles,
Behind a general,
Without the required,
Weapon between,
Her legs.
From Elizabeth in 1868,
To Alice in 1920.
Fifty-two years they marched,
Until the flag they flew,
Included their own carefully stitched stars.
